Non-Emergency Medical Needs and Other Essential Services

TrustedRiders is an innovative, low-cost service solution using Volunteer Chaperones to make any form of transportation accessible and safe, door-to/through-door for vulnerable individuals, run by locally trusted organizations and supported by TrustedRiders Chaperone online training and certification, expert consulting by qualified service professionals, and an integrated online scheduling and communications system.

Makes existing available transportation accessible by providing qualified and reliable Volunteer Chaperones, ages 18 - 85, to populations in need of extra assistance to attend non-emergency medical appointments and other essential services.
Reduces cost to healthcare providers for missed appointments related to patients' inability to safely get to/from home and appointments.
Supports the safety, security, and comfort of patients every step of the way.
Builds relationships that result in better health outcomes and addresses social determinants of health.
Provides accountability and promotes trust with locally customized programs operated by experienced local community organizations and hospitals, supported by TrustedRiders national staff of seasoned service professionals.

TrustedRiders Chaperones:

Bridge the gap with available transport including rideshare, taxis, volunteer drivers, public transport and paratransit;
Assure that the patient is picked up at their front door;
Assist the patient to the vehicle;
Accompany the patient into the provider’s office; and
Escort the patient safely home through the front door;
Act as the “responsible adult” mandated by insurance for patients discharged from procedures requiring anesthesia.

Make appointment reminder and follow up calls to assist the patient;
Support telemedicine visits at the patient’s home by providing access to technology by bringing an encrypted tablet to a patient’s home or assisting the patient to sign in to and manage their own device;
Help to smooth the process for discharge planners.
Make volunteer driver programs more efficient, as drivers do not need to park and walk a patient in, and can transport more people during their service hours.
Provide comprehensive "wrap around" support critical to older neighbors, adults with disabilities (including mental health challenges), overburdened family caregivers and distanced families, and people discharged from procedures requiring sedation.
